For School Leaders

Philosophy Before Policy

Helping schools define what learning is for.

Schools are being asked to make decisions about AI use, assessment, academic integrity, and instructional practice. But those decisions are difficult to make consistently without a shared understanding of what learning is meant to develop.

The Process

A Collaborative Process, Not a Predetermined Philosophy

Futurise facilitates the work. We do not arrive with a philosophy for your school to adopt: a statement nobody helped write is a statement nobody uses. Five stages shape the engagement, and they are adapted to your calendar, your community, and the decisions in front of you.

01

Discover

Mission, needs, and stakeholder perspectives. We start by listening: your mission and graduate aims, the pressures your community is feeling, and what students, faculty, and families each see.

02

Define

A shared philosophy of learning. Your team articulates what learning is meant to develop, in language your community can actually use.

03

Translate

AI guiding principles and policy recommendations. The philosophy becomes concrete for AI use, academic integrity, assessment, and instructional practice.

04

Activate

Faculty learning and implementation. We support the professional learning, expectations, and first steps that turn principles into everyday practice.

05

Refine

Review evidence and adapt. We look at what the work is actually producing, then revise the principles, the practice, or both.

Leadership retreats, working sessions, and faculty learning all sit inside these stages. See one example of the work on our partnership page.

What the Work Can Produce

Deliverables, Scoped With You

Deliverables are agreed with you before work begins, so there are no surprises about what the engagement is for. The exact set depends on the time your team can give and the decisions you need to make.

Deliverables may include

  • A school philosophy statement, written in your school's language
  • Guiding principles for AI and learning
  • Draft policy recommendations for leadership review
  • An implementation and professional learning roadmap

Anything beyond these is scoped with you in advance. We would rather promise less and deliver something your school can use.

Where decisions stay

  • School leadership retains decision-making and final policy approval throughout, at every stage.
  • Anything we draft stays a draft. It goes to your leadership team, and where relevant your board, for review and adoption.
  • We are an education consultancy, not a legal service. We do not provide legal review or a compliance guarantee, and nothing we produce is a legal opinion.
Who It Is For

For the People Who Live With the Decisions

This work is built for the people who hold the consequences, with faculty voice brought in early so the philosophy does not stay in a drawer.

Who takes part

  • Heads of school and senior leadership teams
  • Division and department leaders
  • Curriculum and teaching and learning directors
  • Governance groups weighing AI and assessment policy

What leadership teams tell us

  • AI use arrived before agreement on what learning is for.
  • Academic integrity decisions are being made case by case.
  • Assessment results no longer show whether students are thinking.
  • Guidelines are written for tools that change every term.
  • Faculty are unsure what leadership actually expects of them.
  • Families are asking questions no one has language for yet.
Sample Engagement Formats

Shaped Around Your Calendar, Not Ours

These are examples rather than packages. We shape the sequence around your calendar, your governance, and how much change your school can hold at once.

A leadership retreat or workshop

Half day or full day with your leadership team, in person or virtual, focused on mission, beliefs, and the decisions in front of you.

Working sessions across a term

Three to five sessions that move from mission and stakeholder perspectives to principles, draft recommendations, and a roadmap.

Leadership and faculty together

A version that brings educators in early, so the philosophy and the classroom practice stay connected from the start.

A review of what you already have

If you already have a philosophy statement, AI guidelines, or a draft policy, we help pressure-test it against your mission and your classroom reality.
