New and Future AI Educator Award - EAAI-24
I was honored to receive the New and Future AI Educator Award at EAAI-24, an acknowledgment of innovative approaches to integrating AI in education. My presentation focused on a Blue Sky Idea designed to develop critical thinking skills among students by utilizing ChatGPT through a structured, purposeful Three-Cycle Questions Method.
The Three-Cycle Questions Method encourages students to engage deeply with AI tools while refining their inquiry and analytical skills. The first cycle emphasizes formulating meaningful and precise questions, prompting students to reflect on the clarity and purpose of their inquiries. The second cycle focuses on exploring new areas of knowledge, such as investigating a historical topic through targeted questions. The final cycle encourages metacognition and fact-checking, where students critically evaluate the AI-generated responses, verify information, and consider potential biases.
This approach aims to foster a deeper awareness of how students interact with AI tools while encouraging them to develop thoughtful and effective questioning skills. It also emphasizes the importance of cross-referencing AI-generated information with credible sources to enhance both knowledge acquisition and digital literacy.
Receiving this award was both inspiring and validating. It reinforced my commitment to exploring innovative ways to integrate AI technologies into learning environments that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and responsible AI use. I look forward to continuing this work and sharing insights with fellow educators dedicated to shaping the future of AI in education.
